Dorothy Louise Knorr, age 91, died peacefully of pancreatic cancer on October 29, 2013 in Columbia, Maryland.

Dorothy was born in Brooklyn in 1922, the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Dwyer) Kiefer.  She lived in West Islip and Cedarhurst, Long Island before transferring to upstate New York in 1976.  She attended New York University, Hunter College, and Adelphi, taking courses for her work as a senior employment counselor for the New York State Department of Labor. She retired in 1978 and subsequently became a licensed real estate broker in Queensbury, NY.  She moved to Maryland in 2000 and lived in Columbia with her daughter, Valerie Maione (Valerie Knorr Maione).

Her hobbies were opera, ballet, theater, crossword puzzles, and baking, and she was an avid and loyal fan of the N.Y. Yankees.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie, two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Alexander Maione, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur R. Knorr, Sr., and son, Wilbur R. Knorr, Jr. of Palo Alto, CA.

She will be remembered for her kind nature, sharp wit, and her love of family.

At the request of family, services and interment will be private.  Contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Gilchrist Hospice Care, or the charity of one’s choice.

Dr. Joseph S. Ardinger, of Ellicott City, a retired obstetrician and gynecologist who delivered over 4,000 babies died on Nov. 18 of complications from pneumonia. Ardinger served in the Navy during World War II, then as a resident physician at St. Agnes Hospital, and as a sole practitioner for over 50 years, according to his Baltimore Sun obituary. He was 92.

Linda Cole, the mother of Jamie and Jacob Cole, died on Nov. 15. She was 50.

John C. Lambert, 56, died Nov. 14. He was the husband of Linda Susan Pellicore and the father of Michael Pellicore Lambert.

Herbert L. Whiteside, 77, the father of Thomas Whiteside, Robert Whiteside and Kathryn Nelson died on Nov. 14. He was the husband of the late Barabar L. Whiteside.

John R. T. Eagle died on Nov. 19, he was 50.

Marc John Horn died Nov. 14. He was 23.

Roy G. Parker, 38, died on Nov. 12 of Synovial Sarcoma, a rare cancer he had been fighting for two years. Parker worked for the Baltimore City Department of Transportation for 5 years. He was the father of a 5-year-old son, Traeqwan. 
Virginia Mae Stone, 82, the wife of the late John D. Stone Jr. and the mother of John D. Stone III, Jeffrey D. Stone, Steven A. Stone and Thomas A. Stone. She died on Nov. 19.

Location: 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge

Robert H. Coburn, formerly of Elkridge, died on Oct. 23 in Torrance, California at the age of 92. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He was the father of Suellen Eslinger and Richard Eslinger.

Charles William Miles Jr., formerly of Elkridge, died on Nov. 16 in Sykesville. Nicknamed "Ironpants", Miles was the husband of Miliicent P. Miles and the father of Ron Miles, Dennie Miles and Sharon Davis. He was 81.

John Otto Yurechko, of Elkridge, died on Nov. 11 at the age of 73. Yurechko was the father of Diana Berry, and the brother of Carol Kerdersha.

Ethel A. Barbour, 64, died on Nov. 15. She was the wife of the late Hubert N. Barbour and the mother of Wayne Barbour and Lena Barbour.

Chi ho (Richard) Ko, 80, died on Nov. 17. He was the husband of Men huei (Karen) Kao, father of Ellen Kao Taoukolehto and Elsa Kao. 

George R. Fox died Nov. 9. He was 54.

Ruth N. Mayes, 63, died on Nov. 9.

George D. Leonard, 76, died on Nov. 17.
