Today in Columbia: Not to Rush, But Tree Recycling Announced

Curbside and drop-off service turns trees into mulch and compost.

While there's still time to enjoy your carefully decorated Christmas tree, Howard County officials remind you of the tree recycling program available.

Beginning Jan. 3, trees may be recycled by dropping them off to a number of sites across the county or by placing them curbside for pickup.

In Columbia, residents can have their trees turned into compost and mulch at Cedar Lane Park, 5081 Cedar Lane, or Grandfather's Garden Center, 5320 Phelps Luck Drive.

Other drop-off spots and complete instructions for preparing the trees for pickup are available on the Howard County Government website.
