Christmas Tree Recycling:

While there's still time to enjoy your carefully decorated Christmas tree, Howard County officials remind you of the tree recycling program available.

Beginning Jan. 3, trees may be recycled by dropping them off to a number of sites across the county or by placing them curbside for pickup.

In Columbia, residents can have their trees turned into compost and mulch at Cedar Lane Park, 5081 Cedar Lane, or Grandfather's Garden Center, 5320 Phelps Luck Drive.

Other drop-off spots and complete instructions for preparing the trees for pickup are available on the Howard County Government website.

By now, your house is ready for its Christmas (or other winter holiday) closeup!

Patch is holding a national house decoration contest, and we need pictures of your house all dressed up for a winter holiday.

Get the details and find out what you have to do to enter your house.

The grand prize winner's school district will win $100,000.
