Movies on the Lakefront: Muppets, Pirates, Cars and More

The Summer Lakefront Festival kicked off in June, but the Columbia Association still has 21 family-friendly movies lined up for the summer evenings by the lakefront.

Twice weekly, families are invited to bring snacks and enjoy some entertaining film on a big screen next to Lake Kittamaqundi for free. Glass containers and alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

All movies start at 8 p.m. at the Columbia Lakefront, and the next movie is Friday, July 13. Here is the list of the movies scheduled for this summer:

July 13: Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (PG-13)

July 16: National Velvet with Elizabeth Taylor (G)

July 20: War Horse (PG-13)

July 23: The Muppets (PG)

July 27: The Help (PG-13)

July 30: The Adventures of Tintin (PG)

Aug. 3: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (PG-13)

Aug. 6: Cars 2 (G)

Aug. 10: John Carter (PG-13)

Aug. 13: Puss in Boots (PG)

Aug. 17: The Artist (PG-13)

Aug. 20: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (PG)

Aug. 24: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (PG-13)

Aug. 25: True Grit (2010) (PG-13)

Aug. 31: Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (PG)

Sept. 1: The Hunger Games (PG-13)

Sept. 2: Hugo (PG)

Sept. 7: Iron Man 2 (PG-13)

Sept. 8: Captain America: The First Avenger (PG-13)

Sept. 14: Hairspray: The Musical (PG)
