When:  Friday, Sept. 14, 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Description:  Howard County Garden Club hosts a fall flower show, "September's Charms." Show will have two judged categories, design and horticulture. Seasonal plants include sunflowers, dahlias, black-eyed Susans, salvia, zinnias and asters. Judging precedes the public viewing.

Where:   Shepherd of The Glen Lutheran Church, 14551 Burntwoods Rd, Glenwood

When: Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Description:  Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran Church holds its 17th annual book sale featuring more than 20,000 books, featuring rooms of children's books, and more than 1,000 antiquarian books, along with coffee table books, DVDs, puzzles, videos, CDs, tapes and records. Children's and paperback books: 50 cents; hardback books $1; antiquarian books and a limited number of near fine books priced individually and higher.

Description:  29th Annual Maryland Wine Festival attractions include tastings from local vineyards, wine seminars, food from local restaurants, artisans and craft vendors, and lots of live music.
