Macy's Pledges to Help Blandair Park

The park off Oakland Mills Road will get a beautification boost this spring.

In a project called "Heart Your Park," Macy's has pledged support for hundreds of parks across the country and nearly 20 in Maryland, including Blandair Park in Columbia.

Between March 7 and March 31, customers at Macy's can specify that they would like to donate $1 or more to Blandair Park, and Macy's will match the donations, dollar-for-dollar, up to $250,000.

Donations will go toward improvements like trail, playground and field maintenance, "and everything in between," according to a statement from Howard County.

"Through this wonderful program and support from Macy’s customers, we are excited about the increased awareness and additional funding for Blandair Regional Park," Howard County Recreation and Parks Director John Byrd said. "This park is a great asset to the community, and we greatly appreciate Macy’s involvement."

More than 550 parks nationwide will benefit, as Macy’s stores across the country each selected a local park or green space in their community to support, according to a statement from Macy's on the "Heart Your Park" campaign.
