Misako Ballet Company will be joined by several friends to present “Spring Collage” at the Jim Rouse Theater on February 16th, at 2:00pm.

This concert will be a collage of dance, spanning time and showcasing diverse cultures and styles.

Misako Ballet Company will offer variations from the ballet Paquita and “Japanese Nursery Rhymes and Songs” choreographed by artistic director Misako Aoki.  Woven into the ballet “Japanese Nursery Rhymes and Songs” are themes that reflect the four seasons in nature and the freedom and innocence of childhood.    This cycle will include two new pieces:  “Dreaming of Home” and “Orange Blossoms.”

Eva Anderson, our guest choreographer will stage a triptych featuring a hand dance or D.C. swing, a form of swing dance dating back to the 1920’s performed by Shirley Duncan’s Hand Dance Troupe.  William Goffigan, a drummer popular at Towson University and Goucher College will play “Blues Shoes.”  The piece will wrap up with “Elite Syncopations”, a lively synopsis of popular dance performed to music by Scott Joplin.

Priscilla Kaufhold and her troupe Barefoot Dance will present “Bus Stop,” a piece likely to bring smiles to the audience.

Dragonfly Dance Experiment, whose artistic director is Megan Morse Jans will perform a quirky sextet called “Viola”.

Cellist Carolyn Rosinsky accompanied by Chris Lennard on the marimba will perform " The Swan" by Saint-Saens.  Carolyn is one of 10 Rising Star finalists for the Howard County Celebration of the Arts competition.

Please join us for this concert on Sunday, February 16th at 2:00 p.m. at the Jim Rouse Theater at Wilde Lake High School, 5460 Trumpeter Road, Columbia, MD 21044.  Tickets are $15 at the door or can be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/538410  at a discounted price.
