OLPH Open House PreK - Grade 8

Our Lady of Perpetual Help School - Educating the Heart, Mind and Soul - Come see why families LOVE OLPH!

An Education for the Heart  This year our school's religious theme is: "The Greatest Commandment: Love!" Woven into the school year for all our students is the most important lesson of all - love. Our teachers are able to bring this to life not only in religion class but throughout the day. In this way, our children are having their hearts formed in the love of the Gospel. This prepares them to enter the world not only with the best academic preparation, but with a readiness to make a difference in the lives they touch. Each school year our teachers select a new religious theme to guide us, and each year this theme is brought to life so that our student's hearts can be touched.

An Education for the Mind  Students at Our Lady of Perpetual Help excel academically. Just recently, three of our 8th grade boys took home 1st, 2nd, and 4th place in the Mt. St. Joseph High School Speech and Debate Competition. Each and every one of our twenty-six 8th graders was accepted into their first choice high school, receiving 13 scholarships. For the third year in a row, one of our 8th grade girls was awarded the Fra Angelico Art Scholarship from Mount de Sales Academy. Earlier this year our students completed a year-long curriculum with UMBC Physics professor Dr. Lynn Sparling studying wind power on our campus. All of this is just a sample of the great things happening academically in our school, where our students are challenged to excel to the best of their abilities.

An Education for the Soul  Our children need to learn more than just what is possible, they need to learn what is right and good. Our Lady of Perpetual Help provides an education for the soul, teaching our students the values and virtues that will last a lifetime into eternity. This education for the soul is about teaching our children how to live in right relationship with both God and neighbor. This past January, as we celebrated Catholic Schools Week, our students took part in a day-long activity entitled "Building a Community of Love" that put all of this into practice in a fun and exciting way.

So what makes Our Lady of Perpetual Help School so special is that we provide an education for the whole child - an education for the heart, mind and soul.
