Columbia (MD) Alumnae

Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Will Hold Food Drive to

Support Howard County Food Bank





Columbia, MD. –

The Columbia (MD) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,

Inc. will hold a food drive on Saturday, January 11, 2014 to support to Howard

County Food Bank. Food collections will take place at the Giant Food Store at the

Owen Brown Village Center, located at 7200 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, MD. It is

scheduled from 9am-12pm.





 





The

Howard County Food Bank provides emergency food grants to families to ensure

families have adequate nutritious food, as well as warehouses food for

distribution to other food pantries in the County. Although the food bank will

accept any non-perishable food items, some of the specific items that are

needed include: pasta sauce; pasta (gluten free, whole wheat); tuna; pinto,

black, and  kidney beans (canned and bag);

peanut butter; cooking oils; coffee and tea; meal makers; honey; baby food;

granola bars; and hot and cold cereal.





 





The

Columbia (MD) Alumnae Chapter invites the community to join us as we help to

combat hunger in our community by making a food donation at the food drive.  For more

The Columbia (MD) Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was

chartered in 1971, just four years after the new town of Columbia was

established in Howard County, Maryland. The Columbia chapter was the first

African-American Greek organization to start a chapter in Howard County and has

grown to one of the largest Delta chapters in the nation with more than 400

chapter members. The chapter serves the Howard County community through its

programs and projects based on the sorority’s Five Point Programmatic

Thrust:  Physical and Mental Health, Educational

Development, Economic Development, International Awareness and
