Results from Columbia's April 2014 Elections Are In

Three villages had contested races.

Hundreds of voters cast their ballots over the weekend in Columbia's elections.

Candidates ran for either the Columbia Council (the Columbia Association's board of directors, with representation from each village) or the individual village boards.

Harper's Choice, Hickory Ridge and Town Center were the only three of Columbia's 10 villages where there were contested races.

  • HARPER'S CHOICE—Alan Klein defeated Robert Fontaine in the race for Columbia Council representative, according to the Howard County Times, 269-179.
  • HICKORY RIDGE—Gregg Schwind was elected to the Columbia Council in the race against Harry Schwarz, 274-147. Miles Coffman, Michelle Wood, Tom Louden, Jerry Lioi and Linda Hiltzelberger were elected to the village board. There were 426 votes cast total; 330 were needed for a quorum, the Village of Hickory Ridge reported.
  • TOWN CENTER—Jeanne Ketley won the Columbia Council race against Suzanne Waller, 141-75, according to the Town Center Community Association, which reported 221 ballots were cast; 216 were needed for a quorum. The association said that 10.25 percent of those eligible to vote participated.
