The paper cited an email circulated among Annapolis lobbyists as evidence of Ulman joining Brown’s ticket in the 2014 gubernatorial campaign. Maryland Juice, a state Democratic politics blog, published an email that says the announcement will take place on June 3 at the Columbia lakefront.

Patch left a message with Robin Shaivitz, a lobbyist with an Annapolis law firm, who is listed as sending the email according to Maryland Juice. However, Shaivitz did not return our call before this article posted.

David Nitkin, Ulman’s communications director, wrote in an email he could not confirm the reports nor the scheduled announcement on June 3.

Brown announced his candidacy for the governor's office on May 10 in Prince George's County.

In April, the Washington Post reported that Ulman, 39, may be in talks with Brown about being his running mate in the 2014 election. The paper reported sources close to Ulman said the county executive was beginning to realize how tough it would be for him to win the Democratic nomination and that he could run for governor later in his career.

At that time, Nitkin said Ulman was continuing to explore a race for governor in an email with Patch.

Ulman's term as Howard County executive expires in 2014. He won't be able to run for executive again in Howard County due to term limits.

An alliance between Ulman and Brown would close the fundraising gap between the duo and Attorney General Doug Gansler, who has also been identified as a possible candidate for the governor’s office in 2014.

Gansler currently has about $5.2 million in his campaign fund compared to Brown’s $1.6 million and Ulman’s $2.1 million, according to state campaign finance records.
