(UPDATED 2/21, 9:15 p.m.) Remember Winter? Heavy Snow Expected Overnight Into Tuesday

A winter storm will hit the region tonight, forecasters say, bringing several inches of snow. Here's what the experts are saying.

In case you were fooled by the 60- and 70-degree days of last week, it's still winter. We'll be reminded of that very, very soon – the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 9 p.m. on Monday until 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

Monday night: "Rain and sleet this evening followed by late-night snow of varying rates, accumulating 3 to 6 inches."

Tuesday: "A flurry early in the morning; otherwise, colder with clouds giving way to some sun."

National Weather Service

Monday night: "Snow and sleet, becoming all snow after 10 p.m. The snow could be heavy at times. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible."

Tuesday: "Snow before 7 a.m. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible."

Foot's Forecast (updated 2/21, 5 p.m.): "Ready or not Maryland here it comes! This storm so far is behaving mostly as expected. Most areas around central Maryland are seeing a rain/sleet mix right now, but all sleet is melting on contact right now. This will change before the end of the night.

"Temps are in the 30's and right around freezing close to the MD/PA line. We expect by 9pm the rain/sleet mix will become all snow in most areas around central MD, but some closer to Baltimore city could hold onto sleet until 11pm before changing over to all snow."
