Record-Setting Heat in Howard County Today?

Temperatures are expected to approach 90 degrees.

What happened to spring? 

The National Weather Service is forecasting a high temperature of 87 degrees today and, according to the forecast discussion, it will really be closer to 90 in the Baltimore-Washington Metro area.

If we do hit 90 degrees, the we'll set a new record. The hottest April 10 on record is 89 degrees in 1922, according to NWS.

Along with the heat, in a hazardous weather outlook for Howard County, NWS warns of possible isolated thunderstorms in the area this afternoon and evening.

The thunderstorms could bring fast winds and large hail, according to NWS, so be careful.

Spring may return later this week as a "cold front" brings temperatures back down to the mid-60s.
