Organic Food Manufacturer to Locate Office in Columbia

The company that makes many familiar products in local grocery stores plans to open an office here.

WhiteWave Foods, the manufacturer of many familiar food brands available in local grocery stores, will soon have even more of a presence in Columbia.

According to CityBizList, a Maryland-based business news website, WhiteWave has signed a lease for a 4,080-square-foot office space at 8850 Stanford Boulevard in the Columbia Corporate Park.

WhiteWave Foods, a subsidiary of Dean Foods, is based out of Bloomfield, CO.

The company provides healthy, responsibly produced foods by supporting organic agriculture and small family farms, according to its website.

Its mission statement says in part that WhiteWave strives to become “Earth's favorite food company.”

Many WhiteWave products are on the shelves of grocery stores around town. The company is responsible for Silk, a brand of organic soy milk.

Other WhiteWave products in local store dairy sections include Horizon Organic — a line of organically produced milk, cheese and other dairy items —  International Delight non-dairy creamers and Land-O-Lakes brand half-and-half.

The new office is expected to employ about 12 people, according to company officials.
