NWS: ‘Strong’ Thunderstorms Coming to Howard County

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement.

Strong thunderstorms could come to Howard, southern Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties, according to a Special Weather Statement issued at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday by the National Weather Service.

The NWS also briefly issued a severe thunderstorm warning that included Howard County until 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. That warning is no longer in effect.

The storm could reduce driving visibility to one mile and cause water to pool in the road, NWS said.

Expect penny and nickel-size hail and “heavy downpours” with these storms, the statement said.

“At 3:36 p.m. …. Strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Arbutus to Ridgeway … moving north at 15 mph,” the weather service said.
