Lighting Strikes Fonthill Drive Home Chimney

No one was hurt, officials said.

Howard County Fire and Rescue responded this afternoon to reports of a lightning strike that hit a home chimney on the 3800 block of Fonthill Drive, according to Battalion Chief Gordon Wallace.

Wallace said no one was hurt in the incident, but he thought there was some damage to the chimney.

Reports of the lightning strike came in at 2:20 p.m. Monday, he said.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are expected in the region, including Howard County, this afternoon and evening, which could cause heavy rainfall, potential flash flooding and damaging wind gusts.
