Home Invasion in Long Reach, Other Robberies: Howard County Crime Roundup

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Long Reach: Home invasion robbery attempt

Four suspects forced their way through the front door of a residence on the 8800 block of Tamebird Court. The suspects displayed guns and demanded money. The residents began to yell, though, and the suspects fled. Nothing was reported stolen.

One suspect was described as a black male, 5-foot-7, in his late teens or early 20s, with a dark complexion and dreadlocked hair. Another suspect was described as a black male, 5-foot-9, with a medium complexion and wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans. A third suspect was described as wearing a gray shirt. There was no description available for the fourth suspect.

The robbery was reported at 10:36 p.m. on Monday, June 27.

Kings Contrivance: Robbery

The victim was making a deposit at the M&T Bank branch on the 8600 block of Guilford Road when a suspect approached her from behind, assaulted her and took the money. The suspect fled toward the Amherst Building.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, 5-foot-7 with an athletic build, between 170 and 200 pounds, and wearing blue overalls, a blue cap, and a purple bandana over his face.

The robbery was reported at 2:23 a.m. on Saturday, June 25.

Owen Brown: Robbery

The victim was walking in the area of the 7200 block of Cradlerock Way when a man approached her from behind, assaulted her and stole her purse. She was taken to Howard County General Hospital for minor injuries. The suspect is described as 5-foot-7, 215 pounds, with a thick build.

Oakland Mills: Robbery attempt

A “known suspect” approached the victim on the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road, assaulted him and tried to steal his phone. The victim was taken to Howard County General Hospital for an arm injury. The attempted robbery was reported at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.

Columbia: Robbery

The victim told police that he was in his car, parked at a bar on the 8800 block of Stanford Boulevard, when a suspect came up to him, showed a gun and made him get out of his car. The victim said the suspect then drove the car into a curb, got out of the car and fled on foot. The incident was reported at 2:17 a.m. on Sunday, June 26.

Ellicott City: Robbery

A suspect confronted the victim, who was in a vehicle on the 9100 block of Baltimore National Pike. The suspect displayed a gun, demanded valuables and got away with cash and a cell phone. Police are looking into whether the robbery is drug-related. The robbery was reported at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 26.

Laurel: Robbery

Four people were standing on a corner on the 9000 block of North Laurel Road when two suspects came up to them and asked them to make change. When the four people declined, the suspects pulled out a gun and got away in a vehicle with cell phones and cash. The robbery was reported at 12:23 a.m. on Monday, June 27.

Elkridge: Break-ins

Nothing was reported stolen following break-ins at Feldman’s Pharmacy and Dr. Milles Internal Medicine and Wellness on the 8100 block of Lark Brown Road. The suspect or suspects got inside the doctor’s office after tampering with a window, then pried open a door to the pharmacy. The suspect fled after activating an alarm. The break-ins were reported at 5:05 a.m. on Monday, June 27.

Ellicott City: Break-ins

Break-ins were reported at construction sites on the 9400 block of Frederick Road, with the reports coming in Monday morning (June 27). No other information was available.

Laurel: Burglary

Guns and a laptop were stolen from a residence on the 9100 block of Bourbon Street. The residence also was ransacked. The suspect or suspects got inside after forcing open a front door. The burglary happened sometime between 7 a.m. and 6:35 p.m. on Monday, June 27.

Columbia, Laurel: Vehicle thefts

- Columbia: A blue 2006 Hyundai Accent with Maryland license plate 4CZR60 was stolen from the 6600 block of Cradlerock Way. The victim left the car keys on a field. The key and vehicle were then stolen. It was stolen sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 8:17 p.m. on Monday, June 27.

- Laurel: A Volkswagen was stolen from Royal Auto Service on the 9700 block of Washington Boulevard. It was stolen sometime between Friday, June 24, and Monday, June 27.

- Laurel: A blue Honda CRV was stolen from the 9600 block of Glendower Court and later recovered nearby. It had been crashed. The vehicle was reported stolen at 4:53 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28.
