The Colorado-based restaurant chain offers shwarmas, falafel and kabobs.

Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill announced earlier this month it will open its new Columbia location on March 13.

The restaurant will open at 6455 Dobbin Road in Dobbin Center, near Panera Bread and Wal-Mart.

“I feel our made-from-scratch Mediterranean menu sets us apart and intrigues the many families and business professionals in the area looking for a fast yet fresh and healthy lunch or dinner option," said Scott Black, Garbanzo's director of operations, in a statement. "We are looking forward to establishing ourselves in the Columbia area and serving its residents for years to come.”

Prior to the grand opening, Garbanzo is inviting the public to a fundraising dinner to benefit The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. The fundraiser will take place on March 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and a $5 donation is suggested, according to a company statement.

As part of opening day festivities on March 13, Garbanzo is offering free tote bags to the first 100 guests and the opportunity to win prizes such as t-shirts and gift cards.

"Establishing a new company-owned market on the East Coast has been a goal of ours for years, and we are thrilled it is finally coming to fruition," said Alon Mor, Garbanzo founder, president and CEO, in a statement.

The company currently operates 18 locations, mostly in Colorado and Texas. Mor founded the company with Ken Rosenthal, the founder of Panera Bread, in 2007.
