3) Question of the Day

Are you ready for the first day of school? Are you? Are you? We’re asking readers across Columbia to submit photos of their children on their first day today. County Council Chairman Calvin Ball has already promised to participate! Email your photo to me at lisa.rossi@patch.com We will publish the photos throughout the day on the site.

4) Featured Reader Comment

“If the power had not been restored, this morning many kids would have been faced with no showers, dressing by flashlight in the early morning darkness, limited breakfast, etc, all after a restless night with no a/c. Minor inconveniences, perhaps, but only to those looking forward to "kid-free time" in a well lit air-conditioned house.” -  Reader about the first day of school being canceled in Howard County.
