Howard County is holding a vehicle identification number etching event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at Harper’s Choice Village Center, 5485 Harper’s Farm Road, Columbia.

Engraving your car’s unique vehicle identification number on all of the major pieces of glass is a highly effective theft deterrent, police say, and it assists in returning a stolen vehicle to its rightful owner.
