5 Things to Know in Columbia, 10/4

Rainy days and Tuesdays always get me down ...

1) The Weather

"A slight chance of showers after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. Northwest wind between 6 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%." — The National Weather Service

2) Reader Shout-Out

A special thank you goes to Board of Education member Brian Meshkin, who was the first person to call Monday and introduce himself after I introduced myself online as the new Columbia Patch editor. Thanks for the warm welcome, Brian!

3) Silly Recognition Day

Today is National Golf Day — here's to the 19th Hole! It seems that golfers so love their sport that they can't celebrate with just one special day a year. Both October 4 and April 13 seemed to be designated as National Golf Day. It's such an important day to recognize, they need two tries!

4) Question of the Day:

Were you bullied as a child? Tell us about it.

5) Headlines You May Have Missed:

Masada Complex to U.N. Complex

And here's a hearty welcome, too, from a Columbia Patch contributor, with long-lasting ties to Columbia, but living in far western Maryland.

Thanks, Cindy!
