Symphony Woods Design Team Introduction Sold Out

There still may be some seats available however for the introduction of the design team tasked with bringing the Inner Arbor Plan to life.

Tonight's introduction of the design and architectural team tasked with making the Inner Arbor concept plan for Symphony Woods a reality is sold out.

Well, technically not sold out, since it's a free event, but so many people have pre-registered for the event on Eventbrite that there are no more seats available. However, those interested in attending can still come. An event organizer said that it's fairly typical that not everyone who registers on Eventbrite attends the free event, so there will likely be extra seats.

The event, which takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Horowitz Center at Howard Community College, will feature lead designer Martha Schwartz of Martha Schwartz Partners, Scott Rykiel of Mahan Rykiel Associates, Marc Fornes of TheVeryMany and other individuals who are tasked with designing the park.

The center seats 426.

Inner Arbor Trust president and CEO Michael McCall described the event as introducing the team members, who will detail their work and careers to the community. The Inner Arbor Trust is the group tasked by Columbia Association to develop Symphony Woods. The Trust is in the process of applying for 501(C)(3) charitable status, according to McCall.

Perhaps the star of the show will be Schwartz, a Harvard professor and landscape architect, who has worked on projects like Grand Canal Square in Dublin and Jacob Javits Plaza in New York.

The introduction precedes the December 2 pre-submission community meeting, where the Inner Arbor Trust will present updated plans of the original Inner Arbor concept plan. That plan, which was unveiled in January, featured a treetop walkway, an Arts Village with a new CA headquarters, a wooded amphitheater, and a concession area.
