Mall Expansion Construction Starting to Look Like Renderings

Construction is moving along at The Mall in Columbia.

County officials broke ground at the 70,000 square-foot expansion at the Mall in Columbia on Jan. 15.

In September, the mall announced two new restaurants and seven retailers who would be leasing space in the 70,000 square-foot expansion. Some stores like True Religion, The Art of Shaving and Lululemon have already opened inside the mall.

Above, you can see the progress they've made since starting in January, it's beginning to look like the initial renderings. In case you couldn't tell, that's where the old L.L Bean store previously stood.

L.L. Bean was demolished to make way for the new expansion, which when completed, will connect to a pathway that will eventually lead to Columbia's Lakefront.
