First Store to Open in Mall's New Wing Nov. 1

The first store in The Mall in Columbia's 70,000-square-foot development will open Friday.

The store, Soma Intimates, is a 2,600-square-foot lingerie and loungewear store.

Officials from General Growth Properties, the mall's owners, said at the groundbreaking of the expansion in in January that new stores would begin to open this fall.

In September, GGP announced two restaurants and seven retailers—including Soma Intimates, Stride Rite, Arhaus, and Zoe's Kitchen—have signed leases with the mall.

A total of 15 to 20 stores and restaurants are expected to open in the new expansion by mid-2014. The addition took the place of the L.L. Bean store, which was demolished in May, and added 40,000 square feet to the mall's total size.
