Crescent Development Plan Presentation Scheduled

Developers are beginning the approval process for land behind Merriweather Post Pavilion known as the Crescent.

Developers will discuss a land use plan for a portion of the crescent area of Downtown Columbia on Monday evening at Howard Community College.

Preliminary plans include a hotel, hundreds of residential units, retail and office space for about 20 acres of land between Merriweather Post Pavillion and Route 29 in Columbia, according to a Howard County Times report.

The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. Monday in RCF 400 inside the Student Services Hall.

Howard Hughes, the development company that owns the land, showed off concept designs for the crescent area in May at a Clyde's celebration.

The conceptual designs show what appear to be a number of high rise buildings.

In parts of the crescent area, buildings up to 15 and 20 stories are permitted, according to the Downtown Columbia Plan.
