Slide On In to SplashDown and Columbia Swim Center for Fun, Events, and Much More!

Columbia Swim Center is playing host this season to events for all ranges of ages, including movie screenings, teen nights and the reopening of the Swim Center’s signature SplashDown water slides.

Columbia Swim Center is playing host this season to events for all ranges of ages, including movie screenings, teen nights and the reopening of the Swim Center’s signature SplashDown water slides.

SplashDown consists of two 40-foot high, 360-foot long slides that twirl and swirl riders into a large swimming pool. Meanwhile, those seeking less splash but equal fun will enjoy a diving well with a 1-meter springboard and a jungle rope swing.

SplashDown has been voted Favorite Place to Have a Party by Maryland Family Magazine, and one of the Top 10 Things to Do in the Washington Area by The Washington Post. The hours of operation for SplashDown are Saturdays from 1 to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m. A 42-inch height minimum is required to ride the slide.

There are also several special programs running at Columbia Swim Center from December through April: Dive-In Movies, Senior Matinee Movies, Snack and Slide SplashDown, and SplashDown Teen Night.

  • Dive-in Movies will be screened on four Saturdays: Dec. 15, Jan. 26, March 9 and April 20, all from 7:30 to 10:30 pm. December’s movie is Elf. The cost is just $3 for Package Plan Plus members, $5 for Package Plan/Individual Club members, $8 for Columbia Card holders and $10 for non-members. Register online at ColumbiaAssociation.org/login.
  • Senior Matinee Movies will be screened on four Wednesdays: Dec. 12, Jan. 23, March 6 and April 17, all from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Enjoy swimming and a movie at the Swim Center. December’s movie is Casablanca. The cost is just $3 for Package Plan Plus members, $5 for Package Plan/Individual Club members, $8 for Columbia Card holders, and $10 for non-members. Register online at ColumbiaAssociation.org/login.
  • Snack and Slide SplashDown offers ice cream, soda, chips and admission to the SplashDown water slides. These events will be held on Monday, Jan. 21, and Monday, Feb. 18 — days in which Howard County Public School System students have no classes — both from 2 to 4 p.m. The cost is $5 for Package Plan Plus members, $12 for Package Plan/Individual Club members, $15 for Columbia Card holders and $17 for non-members.
  • SplashDown Teen Nights are for students from 6th grade through 9th grade to splash around and take unlimited SplashDown rides while listening to music. These events will be held on four Fridays: Jan. 25, Feb. 22, March 22 and April 26, all from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $4 with valid Howard County school ID.
