CA’s Shelley Wilson Wins Award From American Camp Association

Columbia Association (CA) is proud to congratulate Assistant Camp Manager Shelley Wilson, who has been recognized by the American Camp Association for her outstanding work.

Columbia Association (CA) is proud to congratulate Assistant Camp Manager Shelley Wilson, who has been recognized by the American Camp Association for her outstanding work. Wilson received the “Service Award” from the camp association’s Chesapeake Field Office at a ceremony on Nov. 10 in Silver Spring.

Wilson has been with CA for six years. Her work ahead of this past summer in particular was extraordinary, according to CA Camp Manager Charles Thomas. He cited Wilson’s work as CA began its transition to a new computer registration system — a transition that occurred at a time when people are typically signing up for camps.

“Shelley worked around the clock from April through September to ensure we would have all of our camp information,” Thomas said. “We could not have made it through this summer without her.”

He also mentioned Wilson’s work with the camps’ reduced-rate program, as well as her time spent coordinating all special events for camps.

“She truly is a great asset for our camp department and for Columbia Association,” Thomas said.

The American Camp Association’s Chesapeake Field Office says its service award “is given to honor individuals, groups or organizations for their efforts to promote camping. It is given for outstanding leadership or service or noteworthy contributions to the advancement of camping.”
