100% New Year's Success Talk to Benefit Ulman Cancer Fund

Bright Spot Wellness is putting on a Free talk, 100% New Year's Success. We're taking donations to support the Ulman Cancer Fund. Go to www.brightspotwellness.com to sign up.

Hello Everyone,

I'd like to tell you about an exciting and informative talk Bright Spot Wellness is putting on for this coming month.  We're calling the talk "100% New Years Resolution Success," and we want you all to be there.

Why are we doing this?  As you'll read below, the numbers aren't too pretty.  Two-thirds of Americans set out to lose weight and get healthier every year.  Eighty percent fail to achieve their goal!  I don't know about you, but I'm not too happy with those numbers.  And I want you, your family and friends to have a fighters chance to do better than that.

AND- being true to our mission, we are the Bright Spot not only in our clients' lives, but in the community.  We've just joined up with the Ulman Cancer Fund (UCF), and I'm excited to tell you that 100 percent of the money raised from this talk will go to UCF.  You'll go right to the website below, save your seat, and make any donation you'd like to benefit the UCF.

In fact, we've made this a Free Event, but we're only asking for Charitable donations be made to the UCF.  So go to your computer NOW and visit www.brightspotwellness.com, then search for the "New Year's Resolution" tab to sign up and make your donation.

What:  Here's just a few of the topics we'll cover:

  • Removing "I can't, and I'll try" from your language
  • Chunking goals down
  • Visualization and Goal setting
  • Dampness and Detoxification
  • Cortisol- what it does, and how you win the battle
  • Finding your "Bright Spots"
  • The number one key to any and all workout routines...and the second and third too!
  • The only "diet" I'll ever get behind.  And it's not really a diet at all

Did I mention this talk is Jam Packed with SOLUTIONS that will up your success.  We didn't make some wimpy goal.  I didn't say, "gee, I'd sure like to get that fail rate down a few percentage points."  No, I said let's make it 10o percent Success.

So if you've got goals that really matter to you.  If you've tried and failed at these goals more than once, or you've never mustered up the strength to tackle them, then YOU Need to Be There on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 12 to 2 p.m.

Go to www.brightspotwellness.com and look for the "New Year's Resolution" tab to sign up.

Our personal goal is to raise $2000 for the Ulman Cancer Fund.  Again, BIG goal.  So if you happen to know someone willing to be a bigger donor, a business that would like to help match funds, or you personally would like to make a particularly generous donation, please let us know.  We're happy to have a sponsor for this event too.  Any way you can help us get this message out, fill the seats, and do a great thing for our community, we're open.

Backstory on the UCF.  Many of you may know Ken Ulman, Howard County's Executive.  His brother, Doug was discovered to have cancer in his junior year at Brown.  This was a particularly scary event for him, and he found at his age, there was very little support.  There was ample support for young children and folks later in life with cancer.  But as a young adult, it was a painful and fearful struggle.

Doug and his mother founded UCF to support young adults just like him. Their target group is people from 15-39.  At this point, the fund is an exciting, powerful and strong fund with a central office now in Baltimore City.

When I visited there last week and met with Brock Yetso, executive director of UCF, he told me stories about who they serve and how they're making their work more impactful.

As I arrived, there was a crowd of young kids and a TV crew. They were doing a toy drive for children affected by parents with cancer. This was started by a man and his two little ones who were also present. As their wife/mother was living out her last days, people supported his kids with toys and love around the holidays.  He's now made a yearly toy drive to support other families in the same situation.  As you can imagine, it was moving to be in the middle of this scene.

I was particularly interested to hear about UCF's plan to get right to the patients and find them.  They have created "Navigators" who are planted right in Cancer centers at local hospitals.  They are there to find young adults with cancer and get the support right to them.  This was a creative solution to ensure the clients they target would get the help they need.

When Bright Spot was searching for a local charity to support, this is exactly the type of operation I was hoping to find.  It's local, it's meaningful, and it's in line with our mission.  So please help me in supporting their cause by joining our event and donating to the UCF.

Go to www.brightspotwellness.com and look for the "New Year's Resolution" tab to sign up. ***The billing tab for the site isn't up until later this week.  If you'd like to sign up and make a donation now, reply to this email and put "Pledge" in the subject line.

Dedicated to your health,

David Beares
