Gonzales Research vs OpinionWorks

Comparing the polling results of Gonzales Research and OpinionWorks

By now, you probably have heard about the latest poll from OpinionWorks done for The Baltimore Sun that gave us new numbers on the three top ballot questions this November . This is on the heels of the recent poll done by Gonzales Research that came out in the middle of last week. When compared side-by-side, OpinionWorks seems to show a much more skeptical electorate than Gonzales Research when it comes to support for the three top ballot questions. On the Dream Act, while Gonzales Research shows the measure would pass overwhelmingly, OpinonWorks shows the outcome of the ballot question within the margin of error.

Question 4 – Dream Act Pollster Gonzales OpinionWorks Support 54% 44% Oppose 38% 41%

On the expanded gambling issue, while Gonzales Research showed the issue within the margin of error of their poll, OpinionWorks shows the electorate strongly opposed to the question.

Question 7 – Expanded Gambling Pollster Gonzales OpinionWorks Support 45% 38% Oppose 46% 53%

The only ballot question where the two polling organizations seem to agree is the question on Same-Sex Marriage, where both organizations show a double-digit lead in favor of the ballot questions, but even there OpinionWorks shows a slightly lower support for the ballot question.

Question 6 – Same-Sex Marriage Pollster Gonzales OpinionWorks Support 53% 49% Oppose 41% 38%

The Gonzales Research poll can be found here. It was done September 17-23 among 813 "registered voters who are going to vote in November" and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5%.

The Baltimore Sun article for the OpinionWorks poll can be found here.  It was done September 25-27 among 804 likely voters and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5%

He was elected...The poll was correct. Did they do a poll on whether the Republicans in the Senate would obstruct almost everything, and put politics before country?
