With School Ending Early, CA Has Added Summer Camp Sessions and KidSpace Adventure Days

While students in Howard County clearly are happy that the school year will be ending earlier than expected, parents need not feel lost as to what to do with their kids during the additional week of Summer Break.

That’s because Columbia Association (CA) is here with fun days at its three KidSpace facilities, as well as extra Nature Camp and Trek Camp sessions in the week of Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21.

KidSpace Adventure Days are being held for kids from kindergarten through 6th grade to enjoy a fun-filled week of activities, games, arts and crafts, swimming and much more. Registration is open to all — not just KidSpace or CA members — though space is limited. Each KidSpace Adventure Day runs from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and includes a pizza lunch; children are permitted to bring their own lunches.

On June 21, the KidSpace facilities will host luau parties, which will include themed activities and celebration, arts and crafts, music, games and a luau photo shoot. Families who participate can get reduced tickets to the annual Family Luau on Aug. 16 at Supreme Sports Club

The cost for KidSpace Adventure Day is $50 per child, per day. Those who register for the full week will receive a free blue backpack (while supplies last). Also available that week is Nature Camp, which is for kids from kindergarten through 5th grade who want an action-packed week of canoeing, sports, archery, nature crafts and recreational swimming at Wilde Lake Park. The cost is $255 for CA residents and $285 for non-residents.

And then there is Trek, which is for kids between 6th and 10th grades. They will decide together between possible destinations such as the National Cryptologic Museum, Hershey Park, a visit to historic ships and a lighthouse, Sandy Point Beach, Beaver Dam Swimming Club, Six Flags, Ocean City, the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum, the National Crime & Punishment Museum, the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore for a scavenger hunt, Greenbrier State Park, the National Museum of Natural History and the Natural Museum of American History. Campers meet at the Youth and Teen Center in the Oakland Mills Village Center. The cost is $375 for CA residents and $390 for non-residents.
