Reminder: Open House Next Week for Comprehensive Plan Serving the Older Adult Community

Columbia Association will be holding an open house public meeting on Wednesday, May 29, between 4:30 and 8 p.m. at the Owen Brown Community Center.

Members of the public are invited to learn about Columbia Association’s (CA) work toward developing a Comprehensive Plan for Serving the Older Adult Community. CA will be holding an open house public meeting on Wednesday, May 29, between 4:30 and 8 p.m. at the Owen Brown Community Center, which is located at 6800 Cradlerock Way.

As part of the initial phases of the planning process, this open house will allow CA to share the plan's purpose and process, provide some background information and solicit ideas from participants.

The open house will be supplemented by a presentation — given twice: once at about 5 p.m., and again at 7 p.m. The presentation will provide an overview of the planning process and goals; highlight demographic trends as well as current CA facilities and programs for older adults; and review preliminary survey and benchmarking findings.

The work team is especially interested in understanding what older adults, or those soon to be older adults, would like to see in terms of programs and services that can serve them as they age. The meeting will employ an open house format with several "stations" where participants can get more information on specific topics and also provide their comments and ideas — all at their own pace.
