Columbia Association Accepting Applications for Maggie J. Brown Spirit of Columbia Scholarship Award

Local high school students have an opportunity to receive one of several $2,500 scholarship awards recognizing their efforts in the community.

Columbia Association’s (CA) Maggie J. Brown Spirit of Columbia Scholarship Award is awarded annually to Columbia high school seniors who have shown a history of providing community service to benefit Columbia residents and those in the Columbia area. For more than 20 years, CA has been recognizing high school seniors for outstanding service to their community.

This year, up to six $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who have a demonstrated history of voluntary service to the Columbia community. The seniors must live on CA-assessed property or who have a parent/guardian who works full time on or owns CA-assessed property. The seniors must be graduating in June 2013 from an accredited public, private or parochial high school and need to have a minimum of a “C” cumulative grade point average (2.0).

Applications are available online at ColumbiaAssociation.org/Scholarship. Completed applications must be submitted by March 15 by mail or in person to Spirit of Columbia Scholarship Award, c/o Columbia Association, 10221 Wincopin Circle, Suite 100, Columbia, MD 21044. Applications also can be emailed to SpiritofColumbia@ColumbiaAssociation.org.
