Darren Burns Named Partner at Carney Kelehan Law Firm

Carney, Kelehan, Bresler, Bennett and Scherr named attorney B. Darren Burns partner at the Columbia-based law firm. Carney Kelehan provides a broad range of legal services to businesses, public agencies, individuals and families in the Baltimore, Annapolis and Washington areas.

Darren Burns joined Carney Kelehan in 2001 and practices in the firm’s Annapolis office.  His practice focuses on litigation and contract matters, particularly those involving commercial construction, administrative law, employment, contract, real property and cable/satellite piracy issues.  In addition to litigation, Burns advises clients on contracts and business formation, and he handles regulatory matters before Anne Arundel County and Annapolis agencies, including liquor licenses and other trade requirements.

An experienced education lawyer, Burns served for six years as the in-house counsel for the Anne Arundel County Public Schools. He has represented boards of education, local governments and public officials throughout the state in contract, tort and civil rights cases.

Burns has been an officer for the Construction Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and a trustee of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association. His two decades of experience in court began with his judicial clerkship for the Hon. Robert H. Heller Jr. in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County.
