Viewfinder: How Much Does a Gallon of Gas Cost in Columbia?

As gas prices continue to rise, we hit the roads Thursday afternoon and surveyed the scene at gas stations in and around Columbia.

Since February, the average gas price in Maryland shot up more than 35 cents in 31 days – from $3.08 a gallon on Feb. 1 to $3.44 a gallon on March 3, according to MarylandGasPrices.com.

Gas prices in Columbia are even higher. Nearly all are above $3.50 a gallon for regular unleaded fuel.

Patch surveyed the scene, driving around March 3 to see just how much filling up your gas tank will empty your wallet.
