Sushi Restaurant to Open in King's Contrivance in November

Could King's Contrivance becoming a more popular destination for Columbia residents?

Sushi Nari is set to open on Nov. 1 at the King’s Contrivance Village Center, setting the stage for all storefronts to be filled in the once struggling village that saw its anchor restaurant tenant, Michael's Pub, close in March after decades in the area.

The sushi restaurant will replace Burrito Brothers, which closed more than a year ago, said King's Contrivance Village Manager Anne Brinker.

The new restaurant is among the many changes the village has seen in recent months.

Greenberries was replaced by Boliwalou, another consignment shop, but one that caters more to teens.

When the new restaurants open, all storefronts at the shopping center will be filled, village officials said.

“We’re very happy to see the center full again,” Brinker said. “And the new businesses will support the merchants already here.”

She said the newest businesses to open in the village center offer the community something unique and will hopefully pull customers from beyond those who live near the village center.

News of Sushi Nari began traveling fast this week, and was first mentioned Wednesday on the blog P90 Noir.com, then on the food blog HowChow. The King's Contrivance Village also announced the news on its Facebook page Wednesday.

Kimco Realty is the property manager for the King’s Contrivance Village Center and was unable to provide any further details this week on Sushi Nari.
