Frisco Tap House Expanding, Adding Patio, More Parking

The expansion will add a new dining area, a patio and 20 additional parking spots.

Frisco Tap House and Brewery is in the midst of a major expansion that will add a new dining area, an outdoor patio and 20 additional parking spots to the restaurant.

The restaurant, located at 6695 Dobbin Road, has acquired the adjoining space formerly occupied by Columbia Oak, according to General Manager Alex Taylor. Taylor said they're planning to add between 100 to 120 more seats in that area, which he estimated at about 1,200 square feet.

The new dining area will feature a central glass-encased fireplace, as well as two drop-down TV displays that will list all the beers the bar has on tap, said Taylor. A door along the main wall in the restaurant will be added to access the new dining area, said Taylor.

Outside, along the side parking area, they plan on installing an outdoor patio that will have between 30 to 40 seats.

"It's going to be a huge attraction for the warm months," said Taylor.

In addition, the restaurant plans to add 20 parking spots to the lot directly in front of the restaurant. Taylor said they'll continue to offer free valet parking, but hopes this addition will make the parking problems they've had at the location a little better.

"It's not going to fix the issue," said Taylor. "But what restaurant in Columbia doesn't have a problem with parking?"

The bar has also removed a wall that formerly cut off a portion of the restaurant and has plans to add a dart area along the windows near their micro brewery, said Taylor.

The pub, located on Dobbin Road, hopes to complete the expansion by mid-summer, according to Taylor.

Beer Production and Distribution Expansion

Last August, the restaurant started pouring its first glasses of Push beer, which they brew on-site in a micro-brewery.

Since then, they have been collaborating with craft breweries such as Flying Dog of Frederick, MD and BrewDog, of Scotland. On Wednesday, Push will release its latest collaboration with Heavy Seas of Halethorpe, MD. The beer is a 7.5 percent alcohol Baltic Porter called Thick as Thieves, according to Taylor.

This July, Taylor said they'll start distributing the beer they make at the restaurant to other bars and restaurants in the area in kegs.

"We plan on doing bottles and cans down the road," said Taylor.

Taylor said after they finish the expansion, Frisco is going to focus on ramping up their craft beer production.

"We're looking for a full production-size facility," said Taylor.

When asked if they're looking to build that in Howard County, Taylor said, "We're not going anywhere."
