Deli Returning to Ellicott City Main Street
Randy & Steve's The New General Store is continuing in the tradition of the Yates Market.
When Yates Market was open, the store was known for its deli – particularly its fresh sausage.
Randy Neely and Steve Archuleta said they plan to bring a deli back to Main Street at Randy & Steve’s The New General Store, which opened in the space formerly occupied by Yates Market.
The deli can open after getting the seal of approval from the Howard County Health Department; its inspection is scheduled for Thursday.

On April 27, the store is hosting its grand opening. There will be free massages, wine tastings courtesy of Pure Wine Café, cooking demonstrations, and local music, including guitarist João Bastos who will be traveling from Portugal, where Archuleta and Neely lived before returning to the Ellicott City to set up shop.
(Bastos is also playing on April 20 at the Howard County Historical Society Museum)

The New General Store’s deli will offer a variety of sandwiches, soups, teas and more. Also expect to find general items – milk, eggs, cheese.
Archuleta said the full list of items will be available in the store’s newsletter, which he and Neely will be mailing out this week; he didn’t want to spoil the surprise for his customers by sharing the details with a reporter.
“I want everyone to know at the same time,” he said earnestly.
Currently The New General Store does have a variety of specialty foods, including local honey, a variety of spices, drinks and culinary oils, as well as housewares and even fresh flowers.
