Cyber Firm Moves to Columbia, Hopes to Leverage HoCo's Tech Boom

An IT consulting firm that also works in cyber security has moved to the neighborhood.

The Columbia Gateway Business Park has added a growing IT company to its tenant list.

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman welcomed Convergence Technology Consulting to its new 8,000-square-foot location with a ribbon-cutting on Monday, according to the Howard County Economic Development Authority.

The firm, which has 65 employees, specializes in IT consulting and needed more room as it plans to grow, according to the statement from the economic development authority.

"This is a company that did $30 million in revenues last year and they expect to nearly double that in the next few years," Ulman said.

Its new digs are nearly double the size of its former location, which was in Glen Burnie, The Baltimore Sun reported.

"As a Howard County resident, I was well aware of the advantages of living in the county, and with our business growing, it made good business sense to move closer to our clients by locating the company here as well," Convergence CEO Larry Letow said.

"We believe the move will help us build on the tremendous growth we are
seeing as a company, and leverage the growth in Howard County’s technology
sector under the leadership of County Executive Ken Ulman," Letow said.

Letow and Convergence employees unveiled a video showcasing Intelligent ID, their latest technology, at the ribbon-cutting. The software helps secure business assets by monitoring and alerting management to suspicious activity from laptops, desktops, tablets or smartphones, the statement said.
