Bites Nearby: Liberatore's Ristorante in Eldersburg

Italian Cuisine in southern Carroll County.

Walking into off of Liberty Road in Eldersburg, you are greeted by friendly staff in a traditional Italian restaurant setting.

Opened in 1988, the Zagat-rated restaurant has two spacious dining rooms as well as a carryout area. In addition, the restaurant also offers catering.

Their superb food includes traditional Italian fare such as Lasagna al Forno, cheese ravioli, spaghetti, and Gnocchi Bianco. But this isn’t all that they specialize in. They also offer gourmet sandwiches, steak and seafood round off their menu.

And if you can’t choose, a lunch buffet is offered from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. so you can have a little bit of everything.

When I went there in the afternoon, I was in a sandwich mood and chose something not typically a specialty for an Italian restaurant, a shrimp salad sandwich with French fries.

I was pleasantly surprised. The shrimp were huge and the dressing wasn’t runny or too crunchy, it was just right. The fries were delicious, and I would know, I'm a French fry connoisseur.

Others in my party had traditional Italian food and from the look of the clean plates and full stomachs it’s safe to say that the restaurant was a good pick. The ravioli and chicken picata were especially hits.

There’s no doubt I will be coming back to try other dishes – how can you resist great Italian food?
