Columbia NeighborCare Among 5 Pharmacies Closed

Prescriptions have been transferred to another pharmacy.

Five NeighborCare pharmacies in the area shuttered over the weekend, the company recently reported, including one in Columbia.

The location at 11085 Little Patuxent Parkway, inside the Howard County General Hospital Medical Arts Building, was closed at 4 p.m. on Feb. 7, according to NeighborCare.

Customers' prescriptions were all transferred to Walgreens at 12400 Auto Drive in Clarksville, where they were available as of Feb. 8.

In addition to the Columbia pharmacy, four other NeighborCare locations in Maryland shuttered—in Owings Mills (Crossroads Medical Center), Baltimore (Liberty Medical Center), Southgate (Medical Arts Centre of Glen Burnie) and Pikesville.

One pharmacy also closed in Ohio, the state where NeighborCare's parent company—Omnicare—is headquartered.

Omnicare closed the pharmacies in a strategic move so it could focus on serving institutions like skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, according to The Baltimore Sun.
