Police Warn of Traffic Delays on Sunday Near Wegmans

Howard County Police expect heavy traffic in the area of Snowden River Parkway and McGaw Road beginning before 7 a.m. when the new Wegmans store opens.

Heading out to the big Wegmans opening on Sunday? Expect some traffic.

Howard County Police are warning of major delays in the area around the new Columbia supermarket, which is located at the intersection of Snowden River Parkway and McGaw Road, beginning before 7 a.m. on Sunday and lasting throughout the day.

Police will be manning crosswalks and directing traffic at the intersection near the new Wegmans. Officers also will be assisting traffic coming in and out of the grocery store's parking lot, according to police.

Those not attending the event should use alternate travel routes to avoid delays, said police.

Police have not yet responded to inquiries regarding who will pay for the unusual police presence.
