John Milton Wesley Live!: Music in the Mills

 


John Milton Wesley will return to Oakland Mills “Music in
the Mills” Concert stage on October 14, 2012 5-7:00 pm for his second performance this year.


Wesley, a resident of Oakland Mills is perhaps more wellknown for his prose and poetry which has appeared in The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, The Columbia Flier, Essence Magazine, and American Legacy
Magazine, as well as appearances on television and radio will be performing music from his first CD “Salvos: The Music Part I”, and new music which will be included in second CD scheduled for release this fall.

Wesley returned to his musical roots following the death of
his former fiancé Sarah Miller Clark who was killed on flight #77 that crashed into the Pentagon on “9/11”. 


He attended undergraduate school on a vocal music scholarship and became a journalist which brought him to Columbia in 1973. He has since performed at Merriweather Post Pavilionfor Columbia’s the 40th Birthday Celebration, in Baltimore, Las Vegas, New York, and Washington, DC.

In addition, his music has been featured on local radio, National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered”, and is available on iTunes, ReverbNation, and YouTube.


Wesley’s song  “In My Arms Tonight” was featured on French TV 3, and China’s Xinhua Network  on the 10th Anniversary of the “9/11” terror attacks. Earlier this year he opened for comedian Sinbad,  and poet Nikki Giovanni in Baltimore.


Wesley’s outdoor concert in June of 2012 drew one of the largest outdoor audiences for “Music in the Mills” and received rave reviews. He is accompanied by percussionist David Baker.


Wesley writes, arranges and performs all original music which includes jazz, classical jazz, Afro-Cuban, Reggae, soul, R&B, salsa, and sacred music.
