Columbia Festival of the Arts LakeFest

Columbia Festival of the Arts announced today that the 2012 Season will feature many special highlights and experiences as the organization gets ready to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of its founding. Kicking off the Season is LakeFest, a free, three-day celebration of the arts, scheduled for June 15-17, along Lake Kittamaqundi’s lakefront in Columbia, MD.

Cirque Carpe Diem and its aerial acrobats from Montreal will bring the magic of the big top to this year’s LakeFest while MarchFourth Marching Band, better known as M4 by its legion of fans, returns for a second year to throw itself and the audience into a swirling volcano of high-energy music and spectacle. Along with these two headliners performing all weekend long, there will be a variety of other performing artists, art exhibitions, a sidewalk chalk art competition, kids’ arts and crafts, assorted food offerings, wine tastings by Maryland Wineries, and a micro brew zone. In addition, LakeFest features ArtPark, a juried, invitational show where 40+ artisans exhibit and sell their original artwork representing a breadth of media including functional and wearable art in the following categories: ceramics, clay, drawing, painting, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, photography, digital and textiles.

WHEN: LakeFest is FREE to the public: Friday, June 15, 5 - 11 p.m., Saturday, June 16, Noon - 11 p.m., & Sunday, June 17, Noon - 7 p.m.
