Columbia Association's Dog Day Afternoon

Release the hounds, it’s time for Dog Day Afternoon!

The Columbia Association (CA) cordially invites you and your puppy love(s) to the premier canine event in Columbia - Dog Day Afternoon on Saturday, April 21, from 11am to 2pm at Hopewell Park

This FREE event promises a dog-gone good time! Enjoy music, raffles and seminars while meeting local businesses and organizations focused on the health, happiness and well-being of your pets. While you’re making the rounds, your dog will be making new friends! We’ve got plenty of doggy-fun planned, including contests, off-leash play and treats, lots of treats. We hope you come out and join us!

Other activities include open-play areas; the Columbia’s Cutest Canine and Owner-Dog Look Alike photo contests; caricature artists; raffles; face painting; music; and a kids’ arts & crafts station sponsored by Columbia Art Center. The first 200 hundred dogs to sign-in at the Welcome Tent will also get a free doggy bag that will include a CA dog toy, treats donated by Purina and miscellaneous pet care items donated by Subaru. CA will also be selling t-shirts, with proceeds benefiting the Animal Advocates of Howard County.

Dog Day Afternoon features local businesses and organizations that focus on the health, happiness and well-being of our beloved, furry friends. Confirmed vendors for this year’s event include A&B’s Pampered Pets, LLC; Adore That Dog; Animal Advocates of Howard County; Camp Bow Wow; Chocolate Chip Dalmatian Assistance League; Club Pooche; Columbia Community Exchange; Columbia Pet Sitters; Dogs & Co.; Dogtopia of Clarksville; Friends of Howard County Pets on Wheels; Greyhound Angels Adoption; HoCoDOG, Inc.; Howard County Happy Hounds 4-H Canine Club; Kobi’s Promise; Mid-Atlantic German

UPDATE! We will be collecting items to be donated to the Animal Advocates of Howard County at this year's Dog Day Afternoon! We'll be accepting the following:

  • Canned cat and dog food
  • Dry dog and cat food
  • Soft treats and biscuit type treats   
  • New dog and cat toys
  • We really like Kong type indestructible toys
  • Blankets and towels
  • Buckle or martingale type collars
  • Leashes
  • Gift cards from pet stores so we can buy emergency food and supplies as needed
