Best Super Bowl Commercials: Ellicott City Man's Doritos Ad Airs During Big Game

Did you see the 'Time Machine' Doritos spot?

An Ellicott City man directed a winning entry into the annual Doritos Super Bowl commercial contest.

Raj Suri—who grew up in Ellicott City and graduated from Centennial High School before moving to Arizona to work for Intel—directed the Doritos spot called "Time Machine," in which a boy uses a time machine as a ruse to get a man's Doritos.

Suri, 39, shot the commercial with director Ryan Thomas Andersen in Arizona.

Doritos flew Suri and Andersen to New York City for the Super Bowl, where they watched the game from Doritos' suite and found out their ad was a winner.

"@DoritosTimeMach is one of the #Doritos winners! & if their time machine works then this is old news," @Doritos Tweeted during the game.

Another entry entitled "Cowboy Kid" was also selected as a winner, Doritos announced Sunday.

The winning entries were revealed after the start of the showdown between the Seahawks and the Broncos, which Seattle won, 43-8.

Companies pay $4 million to air each 30-second TV spot during the Super Bowl, according to WJZ.

Suri's commercial cost $200 and took eight hours to create, Ellicott City Patch reported last month.
