  • Description:  Second annual half-marathon for women.  Produced to benefit the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center, Howard County General Hospital's resource to assist those living and coping with cancer.
  • Cost:  $25 to race, free to attend as a spectator

"Oklahoma!" presented by Stagelight Productions

  • Where:  Slayton House, 10400 Cross Fox Ln, Columbia
  • When:  Friday, April 26, Saturday, April 27, 7 p.m.
  • Description:  Stagelight Productions, a ministry of Spectrum Christian Homeschool Community presents the musical "Oklahoma!"
  • Cost: $11

AFCEA's 5K/Walk and Family 1-mile Fun Run

  • Where:  6841 Benjamin Franklin Dr, Columbia
  • When:  Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m.
  • Description:  6th annual AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association) of Central Maryland 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run at SAIC, 6841 Benjamin Franklin Dr., Columbia, Md. Over 30 companies and local vendors help sponsor the event to support the AFCEA Central Maryland Scholarship Fund, which provides merit-based college scholarships to deserving local high school students.

Solomon's Lodge Pancake Breakfast

  • Where:  9140 Washington St, Savage
  • When:  Saturday, April 27, 8 a.m.
  • Description:  Solomon's Lodge, No. 121 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Maryland invite visitors to attend a pancake breakfast on Saturday, April 27th, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. 50% of all proceeds will be donated to benefit the Wound Warrior Project (TM).

Howard County Historical Society: War of 1812 Bus Tour

  • Where:  8360 Court Ave, Ellicott City

Elkridge Auto Auctions

  • Where:  Elkridge Auto Auction, 7281 Washington Blvd, Elkridge
  • When:  Saturday, April 27, 11 a.m.
  • Description:  Doors open at 9 a.m. A $200 deposit is required before bidding and put towards any purchases. (That money is refunded if bid is not taken.)

K9-9K Walkathon & Run

  • Where:   Glenelg Country School, 12793 Folly Quarter Rd, Ellicott City
  • When:  Saturday, April 27, 9:30 a.m.
  • Description:  The Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is hosting a K9-9K Walkathon & Run at Glenelg Country School (GCS) to raise money to sponsor a life-saving mine detection dog.  Participants are encouraged to bring their well-behaved (and leashed) canine companions to this fun-filled event, which will kick off with a walk/run around the GCS.  There will be three courses to accommodate everyone’s fitness level – a 1k, 5k, and 9k. Following the walk/run, there will be a barbeque, raffle prizes, and dog agility courses campus. MLI’s canine ambassador, MDD Senna, will also be on-site performing mine detection demonstrations, showing how dogs are able to safely and effectively “sniff out” landmines.

Tylers Vendor Craft show for a cure for American Diabetes

  • Where:  Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department, 6275 Old Washington Rd, Elkridge
  • When:  Saturday, April 27, 12 p.m.
  • Description:  Craft vendor show, food, raffles, and more. Proceeds go to help find a cure for diabetes.
  • Cost:  Free

Timeless Deceptions - A hilarious evening of magic and (alleged) mind-reading

  • Where:  Sheraton Columbia Town Center Hotel, 10207 Wincopin Cir, Columbia
  • When: Saturday, April 27, 8 a.m.
  • Description:  "Timeless Deceptions" is an evening of magic and comedy, starring Matt and Peter Wood.
  • Cost: $27
