Tornado Watch Issued for Howard County Until 10 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued the following alerts.

 

A tornado watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for Howard County until 10 p.m.

NWS issued the watch at 5:40 p.m. for much of the greater Washington D.C. and Baltimore area.

Throughout the day intermittent rain storms have gone from heavy downfalls to slight drizzles.

In addition to the tornado watch, NWS issued a flash flood watch for Howard County until midnight.

"After a round of showers this morning... additional showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy rain this afternoon and evening," reported NWS. "Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches can be expected."

NWS warned of flash flooding near streams and low lying areas due to the already saturated ground.
