Nature Photography Hike

  • Where:  Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum, 300 Oella Ave, Catonsville
  • When:  Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m.  
  • Description:  Photographers are invited to join naturalists on a hike through the scenic park. One-hour hike begins at 11 a.m., 30-minute hike begins at 2 p.m.
  • Cost:  Free 

"Prelude to a Kiss"

  • Description:  Howard Community College’s (HCC) Arts Collective (AC) announces its spring production of Craig Lucas’ “Prelude to a Kiss,” running May 3 to 19, 2013, in the college's Studio Theatre. 
  • Cost:  $15

Inspired Ghost Tracking

  • Where:  10620 Guilford Rd, Jessup
  • When:  Friday, May 10, 7 p.m.
  • Description:  This group is for believers and skeptics alike. The purpose of this group is simply to seek answers to the many questions about life after death, ghosts, spirits, and paranormal activity and be able to talk intelligently about it to each other.

Sharp’s at Waterford Farm Mother’s Day Celebration

  • Where:  Sharp's at Waterford Farm, 4003 Jennings Chapel Road, Brookeville
  • When:  Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Description:  Mom’s and families are welcome to bring a container and purchase flowers and herbs.  Guests are welcomed to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery and join in a free hayride around the farm at 4. p.m. Nature trails open to the public and fresh produce available for purchase.
  • Cost:  $6

Wine in the Woods 5K

  • Where:  Centennial Park (Main Entrance/South Entrance) Ellicott City
  • When:  Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m.
  • Description:  Wine in the Woods 5K at Centennial Park.
  • Cost: $21 individual preregistration; $30 on-site (t-shirts guaranteed to preregistered runners only).

Mother’s Day Special at the Conservancy

  • Where:  Howard County Conservancy, 10520 Old Frederick Road, Woodstock
  • When:  Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m.
  • Description: All are welcome to enjoy a beautiful springtime morning with tea and home baked scones at the historic Brown sisters’ farmhouse.  Families can stroll the Conservancy’s eight gardens and talk with the garden clubs, Master Gardeners and other staff.
  • Cost:  $5 per person / $10 per family

Sweetlife Festival

  • Where:  Merriweather Post Pavilion, 10475 Little Patuxent Pkwy, Columbia
  • When:  Saturday, May 11, 5:30 p.m.
  • Description:  Phoenix headlines at the third annual Sweetlife Music and Food Festival.
  • Cost:  $75-150

Spring Flea Market at Glenwood

  • Where:  2400 Route 97, Cooksville
  • When:  Saturday, May 11, 9 p.m.
  • Description:  Spring flea market at Glenwood, free to shoppers.  Vendors, yard sales, food and more.
  • Cost:  Free

1st Annual Mid-Atlantic Wild West Fest

  • Where:  The Howard County Living Farm Heritage Museum, 12985 Frederick Road, West Friendship
  • When:  Saturday May 11, Sunday, May 12
  • Description:  Authentic 1880’s Cowboy, Cowgirl & Western Reenactors, Authentic Chuck Wagon & Cooking Demonstrations, Cowboy Camps & Demonstrations, Cowboy Mounted Shooting Competition, Barrel Racing competition, Live Western, Country & Bluegrass Music, Wild West Saloon and more.
  • Cost:  Adults: $10 / Children (5-12): $6
