HoCo SNOW: Winter Weather Timeline for Howard County

Snow is in the St. Patrick's Day forecast for Howard County.

At the end of the rainbow on St. Patrick's Day, there may be a pot of snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Howard and Baltimore counties, effective from 7 p.m. Sunday to 2 p.m. Monday.

The warning calls for 4 to 8 inches of snow, which will start as a rain-snow mix early Sunday evening and change to all snow by late Sunday night.

The heaviest snow will be midnight to Monday morning, the National Weather Service reported, noting that roads will be slippery.

A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous, and people should only travel in an emergency, keeping a flashlight, extra food and ample water in their vehicles if travel is necessary, according to the weather service.
