4th Annual Martin Luther King/Abraham Joshua Heschel Interfaith Service
Share in Celebrating an Historic Moment for America with speaker Rev. Dr. Robert Turner and his Choir from the St. John Baptist Church. Also joining us will be Rev. Carletta Allen and the Choir of Locust United Methodist Church and Rev. Larry Walker and Choir of Celebration Church as well as visiting dignitaries. During this service we will be celebrating two men, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his friend and colleague Rabbi Dr. Abraham Joshua Heschel. Rabbi Heschel, as a refugee from Nazi Germany, understood the dangers of racism and immediately became involved in fighting racism here in his new nation. King and Heschel marched together in Alabama, worked on civil rights together, and fought against anti-Semitism together, notably in trying to free Soviet Jewry.
Teens are invited to a "Party for Tolerance" following the service.
