Downtown Columbia Plan Wins Fourth Planning Award

The plan has been honored four times since September 2012.

The Downtown Columbia Plan is continuing to rake in the awards.

The county announced on Wednesday the plan has received its fourth planning award since September of 2012.

The latest is the Award of Excellence from the American Planning Association's County Planning Division and the National Association of County Planners in the special area planning category.

Columbia's plan was chosen as part of the groups' annual meeting, where they highlight achievements in city planning.

The Downtown Columbia Plan previously garnered awards from the International Downtown Association, The American Planning Association (Maryland-Delaware Chapter) and the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission.
